Centres of Excellence bring together the best in modern engineering
technologies, training and expertise to help small and medium sized
engineering businesses to improve performance.
A partnership between the
University of Portsmouth and seven further education colleges in
Hampshire, Portsmouth and Southampton, has created eight Centres of
Excellence equipped with the very latest engineering and IT systems to
help your business develop and your employees to obtain new or enhanced
skills.
Each Centre offers training
and advice in its own specialisms and distance learning and on-line
services give businesses access to the expertise of all the Centres on
the website system, whatever their geographical location. Centres have
regular weekday and weekend access schedules, subject to demand. Using
normal timetabled activities, short courses, NVQ modules, in-company
tuition and the website system, Centres of Excellence provide for
flexible enhancement of IT and engineering skills, and performance
improvement and innovation in business.

Autotronics: Design and
diagnostics for motor vehicle and building control systems.
CAD/CAM Systems: 2D & 3D
applications, PLCS & automation, DNC machine control.
Telecommunications:
Networks, data transfer, switching, optical & satellite
communications.
Electronics Manufacture: SMT
& PCB procedures, assembly & test skills.
Modern Joining Technologies:
Specialist welding and adhesives training & tuition.
